Whoa. I now realize just how smart these animals are. The tarantula actually held the tail back with her legs and bit the stinger to disable it. I've seen an emperor use its claws to hold back a tarantulas fangs too. How did the tarantula know that the scorpion's tail was the dangerous part? How does a scorpion know where a tarantula's fangs are?

The only chance the scorpion had was to sting from behind near the beginning. Once the tarantula subdued the tail of the scorpion, the fight was over. Those pincers will do nothing against a tarantula.

I don't understand why that scorpion kept attacking from the front in the beginning. I understand insects aren't bright enough to formulate a complex strategy, but it started off behind the spider. Why didn't it just attack from the rear? Instead of engaging head to head and trying to hold down the spiders pedipalps? (I believe that's what those were).Any smart type folks available to answer? I'm sincerely curious.
