I have a Pinktoe tarantula, I've had her for a year now and I really want to hold her but she has never been held before and that makes me nervous to hold her. I've never held a tarantula before let alone held one that has never been held before. My question to you is how should I try to pick her up and hold her safely for the both of us when she has never been held before?

@raycheesy1. they can be qucik only when large vibrations like jumping and running hevey but no there not uslally quick there know for a pet rock my friends tarantula cheeck out jon3800 tarantulas he's got nearly 200 of them so ask him any questions

well im hope i get a tarantula soon and its going to be a rose hair but you forgot to mention that some rose hairs can be extremely agressive so anyone who is a first time buyer look out but most of the time theyre nice little spiders : )

@kev485 They do that sometimes. Just make sure that they have enough substrate that they don't hurt themselves when they fall.

@FistFullOfDavid no, mexican red knee is the best beginner chili rose will kick hairs quite often but they r still good beginners
@thechronic100 Brachypelma Smithi's usually docile and holdable. The 'hairs' don't even irritate some people, but other people get little welts and are itchy. It's up to you whether you want to handle it or not. Just use something to test first like a small paint brush.
