  • The problem in Brazil is the colour of the skin and racism! The Brazilians whites dwell constantly on skin colour ! For the uninitiated the beautiful mixed women you can seen in beaches were not born with love but with principle to destroy the black race in Brazil!Brazilian white supremacy from 19th until 20th centuries had implemented "Whitening of Brazil" as the solution to the "Negro problem." Supporters of the Whitening ideology believed that the Negro race would advance culturally and genetically, or even disappear totally, within several generations of mixed breeding between whites and blacks. The white elites of the time believed that because "white" blood was superior it would inevitably "whiten" the inferior races blood. Given that for whites the presence of blacks was a weight at that time no because now something has changed! ! In the eyes of the world my country Brazil seems a happy country where mixtures coexist peacefully, but no! For blacks live in Brazil is hell! There are disgusting prejudices against black people, we are victims of being killed by the police, at the beach, and victims of racial slurs in every place of daily life! In America blacks have Obama but in Brazil will not happen ever! The black Brazilians have never won anything just the music, dance and football these are the jobs that are waiting for us!
  • It always amazes me how people find a reason to disagree with affirmative action. Here some say they are against the quota system because it creates a division. Are you kidding me?? The division is already evident in the reality of 98% of students studying at the university being white. The problem is already embedded in the psyche all around the world because of the damage done for so many years. It is time to break the spell of the division by letting anyone and everyone have the same rights. And since so many injustices have prevailed for so long, we become forced to implement ways to include. Desperate measures call for desperate actions! Affirmative action just happens to be the best way to bring leverage. You have to start somewhere! And for the people who waste energy disagreeing with it, use that energy to find another solution. Until then shut up.
  • at 10:30. You have to love the 'fear' that the quota system will create a "racial divide" in the country. Hey Professor, THERE IS A RACIAL DIVIDE NOW. Half your country is not white, but virtually EVERYONE at your university is.
  • I am Brazilian.I can say that public education (before university) haven't quality. Families who can pay for basic education ensure that their children are able to enter university. But another problem is that the poor (mostly black families) don't have the culture that need to study hard to get the same level of those who are from families with more financial conditions. No one can blame poor parents, many are illiterate. When the children of these parents grow realize how many years have not studied as they should to have a good future. Children and adolescents naturally spend time playing, except that someone ask them to study. I think the main thing is to educate the poor parents so that they encourage their children since childhood.
  • The problem with a lot of South American countries is the Spanish colonial system. The Portuguese system is the same. The Colonizers would only send their men out who would fornicate with the locals and the imported slaves, while stealing the wealth and hoarding the land. A hierarchy was established that was generally associated with skin color. If you were white, you were likely to be wealthy and to have inherited alot of assets. If you were mixed, you would be educated just enough to follow basic instructions, but never to ask questions or buck the system. If you were black, you didn't get education, and if you made wealth, it would be stolen from you. This policy will not work as intended. Knowing past colonial history, there will be continued discrimination against black people in other areas. More white people pretending to be black will get this than black people from the poorest slums.
  • The basic problem is that all these Anglo fools dont understand that "black" and "white race" dont exist, not at least in the way they think. Peoples ethnic features change slowly from one place to another. You cant say where "white" starts and "blacks" ends. The idea that people should identify "black" or "white" is more ridiculous than people will ever understand.
  • there isn't black vs white in brazil per se, because almost everyone there is mixed, it goes according to class and skin tone.
  • This is the global system of racism, white supremacy, but the whites are in denial, for they benefit from black oppression....confusion is a great way to keep the non-white people controlled and oppressed....Replace racism white supremacy with Justice!
  • Affirmative Action doesn't work. Simply put, if you're hiring employees, you will consider the black person to have passed with ease while the Caucasian had to work harder (and the Asian had to work hardest). This bias will be very relevant when hiring. The losers in this situation are the black people who would've gotten the degree without AA anyway but might now not get hired.Government interference like this never works.
  • The problem is some of these people are mixed, not black. So if they are taking places under the racial quota system and considered black than where does that leave the people in brazil who are actually black. Isn't that the problem. So now mixed raced people who are partially black are being given preference over people who are predominately black.
  • how about making a new color called it doesn't fucking matter it will be the best color of all!
  • My black people are lost! Why can't we just follow Marcus Garvey? Why not give Afro Brazilians grants to start their own businesses so they won't have to integrate with non blacks?
  • I see countries like Britain and Brazil slowly starting to mirror the racial ideologies that exist in US and I think it's a horrible idea. It will not work. America was never racially unified to begin with. So classifying, while I think it is stupid, works from a US perspective. In other nations it is slippery slope into unnecessary division. Focus on poverty not race! That is the real issue.
  • As an African-American(use to be called black) male from the USA it's sad watching this. What I find quite disturbing is the difference in the political representation and the difference in the racial make-up of the country. How can only 5% of the political government be people of color? I can understand the problems we have in our country(USA) given our history, but Brasil is a very racially mixed society. Sighhhh. Good luck to all of those students who just want an opportunity to learn.
  • how old are they? They seem kinda young for people attending university...
  • this stupid White lady in the vídeo ,what is there to investigate? the facts is on the table but the White keep denying it
  • Soon as them whites landed there race became a problem
  • In America we all have an equal opportunity to be successful and great. Some may not be as privileged as others but it doesn't matter if you are white, black Hispanic or whatever. You just have to want the best and work hard. Is there still racism and racial profiling? Yes But that shouldn't be used as an excuse. But I can only speak from an American's point of view. I feel bad for the young people who have to struggle and go through what the people in this video had to, just to get a good education and better themselves.
  • The quotas should be income-based. That way mostly poor black students would benefit the most and the few poor white students wouldn't be as handicapped. Even though I do believe Brazil is racist (any country with a history of slavery is bound to be affected by it), it is difficult to identify people as belonging to one race due to the country's history of mixing.
  • All that historical Black/White sex that was going on to create this diverse mix society, now they want to divide it up,LOL.
  • The more Europeans they import into Brazil especially Germans the more racism will persists.
  • THE TWELVE TRIBES1. YAHAWADAH = יהודה = JUDAH = NEGROES/AFRICAN AMERICANS2. BANYAMAN = בנימן = BENJAMIN = WEST INDIES/ JAMAICA TO BELIZE3. LAWAYA = לוי = LEVI = HAITIANS4. SHAMAIWAN = שמעון = SIMEON = DOMINICAN REPUBLIC5. ZABAWALAN = זבולן = ZEBULON = GUATEMALA TO PANAMA6. AHPARYAM = אפרים = EPHRAIM = PUERTO RICANS7. MANASHAH = מנשה = MANASSEH = CUBANS8. YASHASHAKAR = יששכר = ISSACHAR = MEXICANS
  • These dumb asses wont even conduct a proper DNA test, only taking photos to determine blackness, idiots. Then those so called "White Brasilians" would find out how black they really are also.
  • I've heard in Brazil there is 100+ names for different skin colors on a scale of tones. I know skin tones do not effect me personally in a negative way at least, so I am much easier able to appreciate a person for who they are without any hang-ups that others sadly have to work through in order to be as free minded as myself off the back. Don't get me wrong we al have to work through the roughly the same difficultness in society, but our struggles will inevitably be different, because of how we are individually as well as how we are viewed by society on the surface.I can honestly say they all look/felt beautiful to me (hey watch it) lol cont) because of how they comported themselves with dignity and that is as large in my view than is any other trait. The H2O2 girl is funny taking the picture blonde. Okaaaaay! She clearly is not black, as is the others in this documentary, or if she does have African heritage doesn't have any significant amount for which honest intelligent people would consider/treat her in the same way they pathetically would someone who on the surface is the embodiment of their perceived racial inferior "race," or counterpart. It is something we all have to internally work on, because our outlook will not magically improve on it's own.
  • Array
  • My brazilian ppl stay strong don't let this american style bullshit make you hate each other!!! Stay strong or vote for something better
  • WHite people ruin the whole world with hate, everywhere they went and left people are still fighting over resources and ones color.they hate admitting but its truth...white people raped the blacks and browns people of the world..
  • White race - as all people excluding perhaps idiots are knowing - is pure myth with no science proof. All Europeans, just like all Asians, Native Americans and Australians, are descents of one black African woman who lived some 80 thousand years ago. All DNA studies have always given the same result. Don't even dream to be white, Asian, Indian or Native Aussi - you are African. Case closed!
  • Man I love Brazilian women (the white ones) :)
  • This is so stupid. Really out of all places, you want people in Brazil to identify themselves as one race, when even a 4 year old can see and tell that almost everyone in Brazil is mixed race. And they are trying the "American way" . It's just as fucked up here. It's truly disgusting that people have been brainwashed to believe that white is the superior race instead of being proud of who they are.
  • if you can't acknowledge that Brazil is systematically oppressive/racist... then i don't know what to tell you... racism is bigger than micro-aggresions (name calling, violence, etc.). if you disagree with me, then tell me why they rich and poor look the way they do?
  • The cots sistem in Brazil is a joke, oll of brazilian have a afro-culture living into us, just look for tradition songs and food etc.
  • I think that if they had made the quotas for poor students instead of black students, this wouldn't have been as much of an issue. Mainly because this is currently having people identify as one or the other. Since the majority of the poor students would be black students, it would be almost the same thing. Also, even if the population continues to change, the poor students get to have a chance to "level the playing field" with the richer students.
  • The majority of the rich minority is a quasi criminal.
  • Listen to some of these dumb ass Brazilians talk about what they plan to do. They talk about going to a university/college (at someone else's expense) to study business administration, nutrition etc. But yet, no talk about how they are going to make money (to live on) after finishing said college. How are they going to get someone to pay them for what they do (if it is based on the curriculum they had in college). They will design no new product that others want to buy. They will create no new service that others are willing to pay for. They do not work at producing/serving what others have created. As if going to college is the end-all-be-all of their lives. Every thing after college will take care of itself. It's just mindless, idiotic imitation of people in the USA. So many people in the USA go to a college and then never work in any field/career that even remotely uses the so-called, alleged knowledge they obtained in college. Many who do work at something they studied in college, do not work a full 45 - 50yr career in it; they leave that field of work, for one reason or another.Dumb ass (dark skinned) Brazilians are now doing the same. Want to live better? Design, fabricate/manufacture a product others actually want. Trade it in kind for something others make that you want. Do this directly; i.e. barter system. Or do it indirectly; i.e. money economy. Whichever of the two it is, just STFU and do it. That's economics in a nutshell. It's not complicated. The reason White/Caucasian and Orientals in Brazil are more successful than darkies there is the same as it is in North America. Light skinned peoples are more intelligent & creative than dark skinned peoples. Light skinned peoples in Brazil are an even more explicit example of how the light skinned are more intelligent than darkies; they had no system to help them get started in Brazil. It self-evidently does not (did not) exist. Look at Africa; where blacks live in a natural state of existence. No wheel was conceived by blacks there. No multi story dwellings have ever been conceived (by blacks) there. That says a lot (about blacks), right?
  • I'm just curious if there is any proof of any kind of wide spread racism against black people What I have experienced is that people generally don't want to live in black neighborhoods because of the behavior of black people and blacks often do poorly in life do to low I.Q. (not everyone fits this stereotype but a lot of them do), along with bad social behavior and other bad choices, single parent homes etc. But as far as discrimination every institution puts first priority on hiring blacks, blacks get free extra money for college in the thousands, free help starting a business via sba, first priority given to black business contracts, special welfare programs and housing given specifically to black communities etc.Yet I only see a narrative of people saying that blacks are denied opportunity. What opportunity? What specific situation can someone show me? I don't mean show me a black person who failed in life and blaming it on racism but I mean point out specifically where you were turned down for college because of being black (rather than low test scores) or denied a job specifically for being black. I ask this because I have been denied jobs and education for being white and I find it interesting that I rarely hear that narrative. Instead I hear people complaining about something which I have never known to exist. I have never seen any black people discriminated against in regards to jobs or education, but I have seen the opposite. If anyone has any real evidence please contact me with it because I would be interested in seeing it.It may sound a bit silly but I have seriously considered trying to pass myself off as a minority simply so I can have some opportunity in life.
  • Its crazy we in America do this everyday I feel for the teens
  • im so happy to see more black brazilians its very encouraging to finally see my beautiful black brazilians it honestly gives me and my family pride to see that we as black brazilians are fighting to be recognized
  • What Brazilians dont seem to get is just because there is no emphasis on "race" per se doesnt negate the very real and festering economic, social and political inequality in Brazil. You dont need to emphasize race to oppress people
  • blacks in brazil...
  • Here's the thing. White privilege exists. You can't just change the laws, give everyone the rights and then say; boom, you can now succeed. That's like breaking someone's legs before a race and saying the race is fair because you're running with the same shoes.
  • and the whole thing of judging whether someone is black or not by looking at them is dumb
  • It's sad because us Black Americans aren't too far. African-American men and Hispanic are being jailed and shot ten times a rate than Whites. Everytime you look in the news their killing a Black teen. This country is the racist country on the planet. One thing is I respect London you go their and your brown, yellow, black it's no difference.
  • Blacks have built and designed many creations throughout time and history all stolen and lied about for many times and lied and covered up wars won and great of many inventions thank u
