  • so going at the spinnerets encouraging the web, what does that do? really, does it encourage them to eat, move, defecate, what? couldn't that of been done with a paint brush? why handle them unless you have too? they will eat pinkie mice, too. then again, i don't doubt cannibalistic tendencies of it, and actually they most likely live longest as cannibals. the g. rosea is a spider with lab value in medical research from heart disease to muscular dystrophy which is why i think they might have such a large spot in the pet trade, a lot is known about them. partially an ion channel blocking venom.
  • ok, and thanks.
  • most grammostola's have "mood swings" which is why they aren't really considered beginner tarantulas.
  • I have kept a lot of Tarantulas in my time, and i'm hoping that the tank in this vid is just for video purposes and not keeping the animal in. As others have said height is not important to these Tarantulas, an adult Chilean should be able to reach the top with its front legs whilst still having its hind legs firmly on the tank substrate. I find a tank of no more than 6" in height and a base size of about A4 paper size perfect, but really no higher than 8".
  • what size tank is that?
  • cool! spiders rule!
  • My boys Rose hair"Betsy' loves to be held!
  • except the milk snake one, he had good information... except he didn't know that what he thought was a pueblan milk snake was actually a nelsons milk snake...
  • @maplemanor i know what you mean about putting the tank on its side length ways so its short and wide the other guy must have thought you meant putting the tank on its side like you would do for an avic (so its tall with little ground space) peace bro
  • same with mine but the other i put my hand in and he let me hold him idk what it is but they can be aggressive lol
  • ive got a chilean rose hair tarantula, ive had her for about a year now. her name is mary jane :) i used to be able to handle her, but now she doesnt like it.
  • @maplemanor the Brachypelma albopilosm is more commonly known as the curly hair but i wouldnt trust any information on the species from myself as my T is a bit crazy curly hairs are supposed to burrow but mines likes to climb and when its not wandering around its tank, its attacking its reflection she's still young though i guess she'll change as she reaches maturity
  • @maplemanor see i will get this chilean rose haired tarantula, and if what you say is true then fuck, that man!!!!
  • I hate spiders
  • I love Rose hair Tarantulas, they're quite docile as you can see in the video, plus they creep the hell out of my friends xD
  • Oh yeah it does..If its scared it it would hide or threat to attack..and for the lifespan..you need to know what your talking about kid!
  • i named my trualantula mr hyde
  • what happens if you stepped on that?
  • stupid . . . he scared tarantula, than he whants to feed she
  • needs more stuff in his cage
  • @spec01 true bro saying tarantulas are dangerous would be like saying peanuts should be avoided at all cost. they can only harm you if you have an allergy to the venom
  • no thats not true
  • i have a chilean rose hair its my first spider.
  • dont act like this. it's a tarantula, used to live in the RAINFOREST. its a strong animal that can stand to be grabbed man...
  • dont those things shoot hairs....
  • i felt like he was abusing the tarantula
  • I think it would be more like CRRRRUUUNNNNNCCCCCCHHHHHHH!
  • @mrantis horizontal. I have mine in a "critter keeper". It measures about 16x11x7 inches. That, imo, is the perfect size for a chillian. One end is the humid end, with her water dish and heat pad that I have stuck on the side of it and only use in the winter, the other end is where I have her hut, where she has made an awesome burrow right down the the bottom of the habitat. Your local pet store will be able to help. Forget Expert Village..they know jack
  • very easy to care for and there venom is not lethal no tarantulas venom will kill you and a rose hairs venom is not very strong I have been bit by one while holding it at the pet store though it was painful it wasn't a big deal
  • oh damn.......yer i checked out ken he bug guy but they dont send to australia.........but im not sure bout LLL i found out a place that sells tarantulas, scorpons, cenitepeds and milipedes........its called the green scorpion. i might buy one from there when i get the money hahahaha
  • If the tarantulas developed before the True Spiders, shouldn't THEY be the true spiders???
  • @mrantis I am not contradicting myself. If you take an aquarium, place it on it's side, obviously there will be more floor space than height (insert visual here). If a chillian, or any large abdomen T has a fall, it will bust it's abdomen and bleed to death. In that case you need to move it fast to an incubator (small dish with damp paper towels in it) and place the injured T in it and place the container in a dark place...this MAY help..but not always
  • spiders r cool i want a mexican redknee but they r illegal in my county.
  • he bites at u because u poke it with stuff
  • that man is stupid never put your hand in the tank when you put food in the terrarium
  • he`s not scared at all!!!
  • Why are you watching this video then HAHAHHAHA
  • I know LLL Reptile has great tarantulas for sale. Also Ken The Bug Guy has some cool spiders you can buy from him. I have bought stuff from both Ken and LLL and so far it has been good. I only had one animal die and that was a Tanzaian Millipede which they never really had before so it was a new pet theyt got at there store.
  • @toad773 im not stupid. i no that taranchulas are venomus and they have BIG fangs. id NEVER in my life hold 1 of those things. and what do you mean "its not a big deal if they bite you" dude their venomus! plus i bet their hard to take care of...
  • my rose is called Angus, he's 'Scottish'
  • do you know what sort of substrate a red chille rose needs? i cant find a good uk supplier anywhere that sells the right stuff
  • @zarrurer12: Very very very few tarantulas are venomous to humans. The most famous deadly one is Atrax robustus... the funnel web from Sydney, Australia but even then you'd live with anti-venom. A bite from say a theraphosa blondi or theraphosa apophysis or a lasiodora parayhbana... three very big Ts and the most common bird eaters, would not kill you unless you were allergic to their venom and didn't have an epi-pen within 20 minutes of your person just like someone allergic to a bee sting.
  • How can people touch them like that? When I try to touch my Rosea it bites the hell out of my finger :S They say this specie is totally not agrassive but when I try to touch is with something it bites into the object.
  • Can you handle her?
  • @maplemanor Ok let me get this straight before I comment again. Are you talking about putting the tank vertical (up and down) or horizontal
  • thank you for your comment!..I learned what I know from having T's myself, reading alot and some excellent sites that I found on the net...this dude is a joke and a disgrace to the Red hairs...I am embarrassed for him
  • actually females are pink to. I have a female and she is purple and pink.
  • do you freakin think it is right to pull the web out of the abdomen!!!!>:(
