  • i love king baboons just bought 3 of them thinking of breeding
  • how big is this tarantula now jon?
  • @Jon3800 well, the first shown one indeed is a cambridgei. maybe the ppl get confused that u show a treespider in first place, they thougt u would only show the bamboons? anyways, i like ur cambridgei :3 i wonder why my one is all shiny metallic green.. my big female is boring grey/brownish.
  • My full grown female died 3 days ago :(
  • towel is better
  • hey boddy, its not a king baboon, it is Psalmopoeus cambridgei. i swear
  • You obviously know nothing about Ts. Do your research before making stupid comments, ok?
  • @TheTarantulaMan Old world Ts are highly venomous. I mention in this video 2:25-2:27, that they're a high strung species, it is aggressive and its loud hisser
  • I am very good at handling tarantulas and i have never been bitten I handle my king baboon every 3 days. When I am handling my spider I keep my hands completely still and the spider sits on the palm of my hand. I wouldnt let it crawl all over me or go up my sleeve. I really like handling tarantulas and I want to gain my spiders trust and as it grows up I hope my king baboon will get used to being handled.
  • Ya, mine's just a little girl :)
  • @sidewaysonhighways its been in affect since July of this year
  • @Jon3800 Thanks, I'm going to see that video right now.
  • I have a 20 gal long, and I want a large, agressive tarantula that will be pretty active and walk around the cage a lot What would you recomend?
  • oh no :( How did she pass?
  • Awesome man...Be very careful with P.murinus.. These are very speedy species with bad attitudes. Most P.muticus slings are generally be docile until they're early juveniles where they show their defensiveness, but don't try to handle it, it still has potent venom
  • heeeey...first view and great vid jon :D
  • @Jon3800 I believe you. :)
  • I keep all my Ts (slings, juveniles, adults) in a heated or room temperature room and they do great
  • Tarantulas aren't intelligent enough to understand human interaction unlike dogs, cats, rats, lizards. Most will tolerate handling but that doesn't mean that they enjoy it. You CAN have few specimens that will like it. Perfect example happened 5 years ago...I had a perfectly calm chaco whom I used her very frequently and she tolerated it...then one day I tried to pick her up, she turned around immediately and struck me without warning...I was scared because she nearly bit me. Be careful
  • good video when do u plan on rehousing your king baboon
  • they're awesome Ts. They take a long time to grow, but they're as important in an collections as P.murinus and B.smithi
  • @tigerpython83w well actually the cambridgei was the 2nd T I shown. The first was P.fasciata. The reason why my specimen is shiny green because she had freshly molted.
  • Honestly any T.blondi are a chore to care for. They need to be a constant 85-96% humidity which is hard to maintain for some people. T.blondi are famous for molting problems because they're kept too dry and the diet is overfed with calcium For dimension, I never use at all when housing a T. I keep everything very simple and I buy enclosures which I know are big enough for my T If you want to know, a 5 gallon glass enclosure is 38 cm length, 19cm width and 25 cm tall
  • Where did you get that Tarantula poster?
  • @TheTarantulaMan no, but it can make you very sick
  • @Jon3800 ah yes, i watched again. well its weird. my other p. cambridgei is all metallic green, even late after a fresh molt. and my female is like 2 weeks molted, i guess she will stay in brown. i hope the green one will stay in green, but it is just subadult so the colors can change again. hm.. are these end-boxes.. i mean are the plastic-boxes their constantly home? in gemany we are used to buy glass-terrariums even for our spiders lol
  • my god! huge and so scarry :)
  • thanks man :) YOU ARE THE MAN
  • hope she does you good jon!
  • Just got a sling!
  • @sidewaysonhighways most people aren't aware of the name changes and most have grown familiar with C.crawshayi so that's why they're not changing it. If you go to my dealer's site (tarantulacanada(dot)ca) and go to their pricelist, they have changed the name. They wrote Pleniobius muticus (formerly C.crawshayi). I have seen this with the old N.vulpinus when it should be N.tripeppi
  • awesome, they're great Ts
  • not anytime soon, she's still good
  • my king baboon hasn't eaten since i got it last Thursday I tried to feed it wax worms on 2 occasions and it wasn't hungry. I found out the last time it got fed was the end of last week. the spider came with a portable heat mat and i stuck it to the bottom of the Tupperware and the heat mat stopped working the next day
  • @snipesnrifles either Theraphosa stirmi, blondi or apophysis.
  • Mark, P.muticus are not the greatest eaters and you must expect that because it's one of the slowest growing old world. You should feed them small size crickets for 3/4'' slings rather than wax worms. They're probably too large and they're not going to eat prey that is much larger than themselves. You should feed Ts food that are no bigger than their abdomen. Please don't heat mats. Very bad for slings (they can dehydrate quickly) and can melt the tupperware.
  • @ryansloan14 43x21x25 I'm usually simple and I never go by dimensions. If it's big enough for the T, thats what I put them in.
  • @tigerpython83w These are plastic kritter keepers. Glass terrariums are too expensive. I have a big collection so glass ones take a lot of space
  • i will continue to handle my king baboon without fear. I treat him/her well and i am doing everything I can to keep my spider happy and healthy. People like to stereotype the king baboon and the usambara orange as being aggressive, some are aggressive and some are docile it depends on the specimen.
  • I got this poster from a petstore over 10 years ago. It was so old that they used to call the Brachypelma species "Euthalus" and Chromatopelma as "Delopelma"
  • @Jon3800 I can imagine. In germany u cant buy stuff like this. Even if u want to use normal tins, they are mostly not usable. i own 15 spiders and dont know myelf where to place their terrariums. i am happy if i can find used ones for cheap.
  • 111
  • i think you care for them fine but I think your tanks are bit small
  • The heatmat completely died on friday and I have no plans to replace it. I chose a king baboon because it is a slow growing species. I wont be feeding it on wax worms anymore I will try pinhead crickets next time because i phoned the spider shop and I found out that it had been fed on pinhead crickets. i am getting on really well with my king baboon and its very docile. I will be getting an usambara orange spiderling in May.
  • The tanks are fine...Tarantulas are blind animals and they stress out if they are in larger tanks...
  • @mintgoodbye the 2nd T was P.cambridgei,, you are right
  • @TheTarantulaMan No one has ever died from a bite from this species.
  • Dont worry im not at all offended by your comments. I was happy to tell you about my T and I will let you know how I get on and if I have any questions I will not hesitate to ask. Thanks speak soon.
