Beautiful male, the only thing that bugs me is that such a big tarantula shouldn't be help up in the air like that. it can be dangerous to him, he could drop and die, such a big guy should be handled by letting them down and letting them walk over your hands on a more stable setting. but besides that what a beautiful guy!

Blow hard on a live tarantula...watch what happens. It scares the crap out of them...sometimes literally. The fact that it shows aggressive behavior and fear, would indicate that they have some basic emotion.
